‘Outdoor stage’

Outdoor stage, painted backdrop and proscenium arch with mosaic. Made with Year 4
The Head Teacher, Deborah Hogan, wanted to add an area of interest into the playground which would prove to be interactive and decorative. I had great fun working with Year 4 as they produced delightful designs for the backdrop. The children drew some lovely landscapes, and in perspective!
The final design for the back drop was quite surreal: a helter-skelter spirals through the sky; pyramids sit side by side with a snow capped mountain; a mermaid does a head stand on the water while yellow and blue horses gallop towards the sea. A perfect backdrop to any event!
The children also made clay reliefs depicting animals, butterflies and birds which were incorporated into the mosaics for the proscenium arch.
